Dungeness RNLI Lifeboat launches to SART emergency signal, 10 miles south east of Dungeness Point

At 17.29 hours on Tuesday 12 July, in response to a request from Coastguards, the Dungeness RNLI lifeboat launched to investigate a SART (search and rescue transponder) emergency beacon, ten miles south east of Dungeness Point.

Once on scene the RNLI lifeboat carried out an extensive box search but after two hours nothing was found and the RNLI lifeboat returned to station.

Coxswain Stuart Adams said 'Although nothing was found we are here and ready to respond to any call we receive whatever it may be as part of the RNLI's strategy of saving lives at sea'
